Project e-Quality was organized as an energized coalition representing business, education and healthcare
that united to fight the "Digital Divide." Its aim was to encourage the rapid deployment and use of affordable
high-speed telecommunications technologies throughout Pennsylvania. The Project e-Quality coalition galvanized
around the guiding principle that any legislation regarding Chapter 30 should create jobs, keep Pennsylvanians
healthy and better educate our children.
The new Pennsylvania Chapter 30 was passed late November 2004. One of the outcomes of this legislation was
the creation of the Pennsylvania e-Fund, which provides funding to be used to establish and improve high-speed
education networks connecting the Commonwealth's K-12 schools across the state over five years. Project e-Quality
is pleased to announce the first e-Fund awards have been made, totaling $10 million for 282 educational entities
from 43 counties across the commonwealth.
